Prof. Dr. Metin Başaranoğlu is a distinguished gastroenterologist and hepatologist with extensive expertise in endosonography and inflammatory bowel diseases. He completed his medical degree at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine, followed by his Internal Medicine specialization at Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine and Gastroenterology subspecialty training in Turkey. Between 2010 and 2015, he worked at the Gastroenterology Clinic of Türkiye High Specialization Hospital, focusing on advanced endoscopic techniques and inflammatory bowel diseases. In 2009, he became an Associate Professor, and in 2016, he was awarded the title of Professor. His postdoctoral research was conducted at Saint Louis University Liver Center (USA), where he expanded his expertise in liver diseases. He has authored over 70 international peer-reviewed publications and has presented more than 80 oral and poster presentations at international scientific congresses. His research has been cited 2,537 times, with an H-index of 24 and an i10-index of 33, according to Google Scholar. In addition to his research contributions, he has published one book and two book chapters internationally, along with three solo-authored books in Turkey aimed at raising public health awareness: Fatty Liver & Obesity Cirrhosis, The Second Brain: The Gut, and Chernobyl Within Us.
