Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Katı completed his undergraduate degree in Biology, master’s degree in Microbiology, and Ph.D. in Genetic Engineering. In 2019, he joined Health Sciences University, Department of Biotechnology as a faculty member. In 2020, he founded Omica Research and Innovation, a pioneering biotechnology startup in Turkey, supported by TÜBİTAK, focusing on developing the country’s first animal-free testing technologies. His company has successfully developed three-dimensional cell culture systems to create oral, skin, and eye irritation test platforms without the need for experimental animals.In the same year, he was appointed as the Deputy Director of Validebağ Research Park, the central research laboratory of Health Sciences University, actively participating in the establishment of 28 laboratories.Dr. Katı has dedicated his academic and professional career to bridging microbiology and biotechnology through innovative projects, fostering collaborations between academia and industry. His research focuses on recombinant DNA technology, bacterial cellulose production, antimicrobial peptides, and biosurfactants, contributing significantly to the development of sustainable biotechnological solutions. He continues to serve in his role at Health Sciences University and has published over 40 academic studies in national and international journals. Additionally, he actively participates in seven projects funded by TÜBİTAK, TAGEM, and TÜSEB, playing a key role in advancing scientific research and biotechnology innovations.
