Assist. Prof. Dr. Şeyda Demirkol is a dedicated researcher and academic with over seven years of experience in molecular medicine and cancer studies. She specializes in oncology, epigenetics, and immunotherapy, with a strong focus on genetic mechanisms involved in cancer progression and immune checkpoint pathways. Dr. Demirkol earned her Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine from Istanbul University, Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, Institute of Experimental Medicine in 2019, where she investigated critical gene variants and related gene expressions in the PD-1/PD-L1 signaling pathway in non-small cell lung cancer. She previously completed her M.Sc. in Medical Biology and Genetics at Istanbul Bilim University in 2015, focusing on MRP1 and MRP2 gene expressions in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy, and obtained her B.Sc. in Food Engineering from Gaziantep University in 2009. Throughout her career, she has contributed to various research projects and published numerous scientific articles. She has held academic positions at multiple universities, including Istanbul Bilim University (2012-2015), Istanbul Aydın University (2016-2017), and Biruni University (2018-present), where she currently serves as an Assistant Professor. Her research interests include molecular diagnostics, gene expression analysis, and biomarker discovery, particularly in the context of personalized medicine and targeted cancer therapies. With extensive experience in project development, laboratory applications, and scientific publishing, Dr. Demirkol continues to play a vital role in advancing the field of molecular oncology while mentoring students and collaborating on innovative research initiatives.
